PSEUDO BLOG!

Tuesday, July 15th

No theme tonight, but a lot of good crew people... Chris and Kelsey, Dr. Nav and Dr. Xidos, Mr. Intensity- Josh, Martha, Rediger, Paul and Pat, Kris and Tall Paul and the Beautiful Miss Brown.  We got a terrific start, maybe our best, and then went downhill from there.   Worked our way to the windward mark, and tried to the chute... it doesn't work so well sideways.  The takedown was interesting, too.  The second time around wasn't much better, as it's a lot easier to run up the chute on the leeward side... a lot less (two, specifically) wraps on the forestay.  Oh well.. we'll get it right eventually.   Still looking for that assymetrical chute to get working.   Big Pete comes back to town next week ( No Duck Dodge, BTW) because of Whidbey island Race Week.

Tuesday, July 1st

NO MESSES ON BOARD OR YOU WON'T BE INVITED BACK.  JEEZ.

Red White and Blue night was extremely well attended, and  lots of newbies on board.  Big Pete's in London, so Dr Petie gets to drive.  Flew the symmetrical kite, nice reach to the leeward mark.    The raftup is fascinating, watching the virgins transverse the decks.   Paul, Kimberlee, Josh, Eric among the newbies.  The raft broke up early and we went home.  In the melee, Jennifer jumps to our boat, breaks her FOOT!  Hopefully, pictures to follow

Tuesday, June 24th

Mardi Gras night, attended by numerous newbies: Betsy, Debi, Rigo, Dani, Patrick, Paul.  Old hats, too: Stacey (who leapt from the committee boat, furthering her claim to Rookie of the Year award) the Petes, Pamm, David, Page, Jillian and Commander Rick from Shogun.  We didn't finish top three at all, and got really slow at times.  The boat definitely is a downwind machine, though, even though we didn't use the chute we were rolling all over other boats.  Don from Shoot the Moon dislocated his knee... Don, hope everything comes out okay.

Tuesday, June 17th

No theme tonight, but lots of crew.  June, Big Pete, PK, Dave, Mike, Stacey, Jillian, Jennifer.  Wanted to fly the chute, but experience was lower than wind levels.  Got pinched out of the windward mark and decided it wasn't worth going back to fight around the mark for a duck sticker.  Oh, well.

Saturday, March 31st:

We are going out for a nice sail on Lake Union, no pressure, check out the big assymetrical chute pictures.  Be very jealous!

Tuesday, March 27th:

Everyone Bails on Festivus night!   It was only Big Pete, Pamm, and the Clean Sails Guy.  No ducks, but good info on how better to sail the might ship from an expert.  Next week, no theme, but looks like a lot more people will show.  The plan is to go this Saturday and put up the new assymetrical chute... pictures to follow.

Big Pete installs the nameplate on the boat... See above?  That's what we hope other boats will see when we "race"... kidding.   Nice job, Big Pete!

Tuesday, March 20th:

Pete Sr. got a pretty bad start, (admit it, Pete) but made up for it with great crew work from Andrea and Taylor, June, and of course Pamm. It was tiring!  No spinnaker yet... too much breeze.  Highlight was wrapping the genoa sheet around the roller furling cleat, and blowing it out through the deck.  As Taylor said, " Does anyone know a good veterinarian?  Because my pythons are SICK!!

Tuesday, March 13th :

WE GOT A BRONZE DUCK at tonight's Dodge!! Woo Hoo!

Thanks to our courageous crew: Big Pete, June, Pam, Tim, Darcy- "Worm", Susan, and Dr. Petie. We didn't fly any spinnaker(s) due to the wind velocity and the fact that we hadn't flown it but once.   Apparently that didn't matter!   The maxiprop may have been the difference after all!!  If you need proof of this, check here.

March, 2008

We're seriously going to go fast now, due to our new propeller and bottom paint and ASSYYMMEETTRRIICCAALL CHUTE!

Notice we made the word asymmetrical symmetrical?  Cool. Not very exciting, but this is a maxiprop, meaning that it is A. Really expensive, and may impress some people.  It feathers itself when the shaft isn't turning, so it's not this dinner plate of a brake when the boat is sailing.  Fresh bottom paint simply means less scum.  We (June and Dr. Pete) buffed the topside with rubbing and polishing compound. --June Whipple earns the right to be on the "A" team now.

Last Goosebumps race-Sunday, Feb. 17th
The last Goosebumps race of the season will be on this date.  Not racing this weekend because the mainsail is being repaired... it had some wear on the leading edge, and needed telltails installed. Consult the schedule page for the next Legacy events.

DUCK DODGE GOOSEBUMPS - January 2008

The second Goosebumps race finds that the boat goes a LOT better with a little bit of wind. Much better with a LOT of wind. The boat weighs TWELVE TONS, after all.

Uncovered, finally. The three hours of time were worth it to take the cover off, finally... we're getting excited about taking the boat out.  There's a lot of leaks on top, especially the hatches.
